Men's Ministry

Men Matter

Divider text here
Men's Ministry focuses on bringing men together to develop relationships that are authentic, supportive, and Christ-centered. Our hope is that the men of ThornCreek become a brotherhood that cares deeply for and supports each other to be the men of God we are called to be.

We meet monthly for a men's breakfast as well as an annual retreat where we are able to get away and focus on our walk with God.

Men's Retreat

Every man is busy...
Every man has a reason why they can't get away to a church retreat. Think again...the greatest men take care of their soul. This year ThornCreek Men's Retreat will take place in the beautiful Rocky Mountains near Estes Park. There's something incredibly powerful about being in the mountains and seeking God that is good for the soul. We will gather for two nights and three days to worship, seek God's will, and...play! Men will have an opportunity to shoot guns, ice fish, hike, or simply, chill. You will also have a chance to get to know other men who are in the same battles of life. The only thing that is mandatory is food and chapel! We'll have three chapel services.

Theme: "Pick Up Your Sword"
Our guest speaker this year is Brett Rickey. Brett has been the Lead Pastor of Highland Park Church in Lakeland, Florida, since February of 2009. Brett’s ministry blends his experiences from eleven years in corporate life with his nine years as the founding pastor of FamilyChurch in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He also serves as a coach and mentor to pastors of churches across the country. He will be speaking to us about having faith to pick up our sword!

Invite Someone!
This Men's Retreat is also a great opportunity for fathers and sons to bond, or invite a friend that has been going through tough times and needs a God-perspective on their life. Our hope is all men will hear a word from God, and come back to the grind with a revived soul.

How much time do you need to take off?
The retreat goes from Thursday evening to Saturday mid morning. The amount of time needed to take off is dependent on your work schedule. Keep in mind the drive time to High Peak Campground is approximately one hour from ThornCreek Church. This is assuming good driving conditions. You have options for "check in" on Thursday, February 17. Men are invited to an early lunch in Estes Park at Penelope's Burgers at 1:00 PM. Men who take the day off typically show up early for that lunch in Estes. It's optional. They drive to the campground when done with lunch. Check in at the campground is officially on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The dinner will likely be at 6:30 PM. The first chapel service will take place immediately after dinner. So, you really want to be at the campground by dinner time, which is 6:30 PM. "Check out" time is on Saturday, February 19 after breakfast, which is about 10:00 AM. We encourage everyone to stay for breakfast! You could be back home on Saturday by noon!

Covid Restrictions & Precautions
We want to encourage people to be smart and keep social distance as much as possible. The lodge that we stay in has rooms with two beds and a private restroom. You may designate who you would like to room with. Masks are not required by ThornCreek Church. We are expecting men and sons to be responsible. However, the staff at High Peak Campground is requiring masks for us when we enter the dining hall as we're around their staff. When we are seated at our tables we may remove masks.

Cost for Retreat
The retreat cost is $100 per adult, and $50 for each son (ages 10 -17). The cost covers two nights in a lodge, and five meals. Thursday (dinner), Friday (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and Saturday (breakfast) will be provided at the campground. If you would like to sponsor someone else, please let us know!

2018 Recap

The Men of ThornCreek had an amazing time in Estes Park connecting with God and each other this year. Pastor Steve Longley delivered a powerful message encouraging and challenging our Men to live a holy life in the midst of the collisions of life.

We look forward to what God will do in and through the Men of ThornCreek in 2018!
